Where can you do an online windows repair for free or reinstall?Don't tell me bootdisk as it is not working on my older system.

You can't be online in any way shape or form if you need to format and reinstall or a repair install...

You'd be better off trying to find out why you can't "bootdisk". It would also help if you told us what version of Windows you want to repair.
If your system has a CD/DVD drive you should be able to boot off the Windows CD.
If you can't because the CD/DVD drive is not working - fix/replace the drive.

If you can't because the CD just won't boot, you probably need to get into the BIOS so you can change the boot order.

I can't because my cd isn't reading anything atm although it still works as it wants to loads programs.I am trying to reinstall Win XP home edition.

These trogans that I got sometime ago is preventing me from installing any type of software only way is to dl it.I can't even update windows.I was hoping that there was dl for it as I was just going to dl it and then reinstall.

It sounds like your system is thoroughly boinked. Sounds like you need a reformat and a general hardware overhaul. But, since you apparently don't know much about computers, it could be something simple. If you are in the HRM area, I could fix it for you.

I am trying to learn more so I can actually build them and diagnose them.What are your suggestion in learning how to do this?Where is the HRM area?

It is mostly windows that has been damaged when I had 2 trogans.

Your posts are hard to decipher, so I still don't know if your CD drive doesn't work or just doesn't boot the Windows CD.

If it doesn't work - open up the computer and make sure that the cables on the CD drive are snug. It even helps to unplug them and plug them back in. (both ends of the data cable). If it still doesn't work - CD drives can fail because of dirt on the laser etc. - you could try cleaning it. But, they're cheap, so replacing it (with a DVD drive) is a good idea - and an easy way to gain some experience.

If it just won't boot the Windows CD, you may need to get into the BIOS (setup) to change the boot order. Check the manual to see what key to press to do this. Or, you can watch the initial screens as the computer starts up, to see if it says something like "Del to enter setup"
Once the setup/BIOS screen comes up, navigate through the menus until you find the "boot order" and set the CD/optical drive as the first boot device.
If that works, put the Windows CD in the drive and restart the computer. At some point during start-up, it should say "Press any key to boot from CD" - or words to that effect.
Follow the prompts until the Win install finds your previous Windows installation - usually C:\Windows - and choose the (R)epair option.

It still wouldn't boot in cd drive as set up as boot disk.I had no working D or A drives.I finally took it in to the shop to get fixed.I live on the other side of the coast.
